One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

don't think I've ever done this before, but ... my soapbox so ...
I buy gift cards to fund Uber and Lyft. Makes things easier.
I recently purchased a $25 Lyft gift card. Lyft is also offering a 50% off weekday rides promo.
I used Lyft for my ride to the store today which debited my gift card balance but did not reflect my 50% promo (I do this on Uber all the time).
I wrote customer "service" to see why that was. here is their response:
"Hi Steve,
Thanks for reaching out to us about the credit that didn't apply to your ride. I understand these credits can really be helpful on your day to day rides.
The reason behind your 50% off credit not being applied on your ride with Alex is because a gift card already covered the whole $8.10 ride fare.
Only 1 type of credit/promo can be used per ride and cannot be stacked.
As this is the case, we are not able to retroactively switch the code that applied but encourage you to utilize your remaining credit towards another Lyft ride.
Upon checking, you still have 6 rides on your 50% promo, Steve.
Should you have additional concerns, we're just an email away!

Apparently, Lyft's idea of service is like that service a bull gives a cow.
I explained the situation and asked if that was indeed their policy I wanted my $16.90 gift card balance refunded immediately, or to be referred to a supervisor.
Should that not happen I have nothing better to do the next couple weeks than to open a &%#* storm on Lyft.
It would be so worth the $16.90

"As I pointed out previously your competition (Uber) does not have that policy. I use gift cards and promos all the time with them.
and while I had good experiences in the past using your service I will never do so again.
I will also let everyone I know about this and strongly suggest they not use your service.
FYI, nowhere did I see anything about you not combining gift cards with promo's when I purchased or redeemed the gift card.
If I receive a gift card from, say Beast Buy, I fully expect to get any advertised sales or promotions when making a purchase, and I'm betting you would too.

Are their any discounts given on the purchase of the gift card? I'm not clear about them saying that only 1 type of promo or "credit" can be given. Is the gift card not just another form of a cash payment?

I worked for many many years in retail and I can't imagine telling a customer that presented a gift card for payment that the sale price on the item they are buying doesn't apply unless they use their credit card.

What does the state think about gift cards? Most states have very specific times regarding then and their usage

California does not require retailers to refund amounts over $10, but I've not found anything about limiting usage (yet)

According to Lyft, they are not credits, such as promos:

"These credits may only be used for Lyft rides, are unique to the Lyft Card, and are not to be considered the same as other credits that Lyft offers, such as promo, new user, or referral credits."

I see nothing from Lyft that states the card cannot be used along with discounts. This only makes sense as the credit on the card is _exactly_ the same as cash to Lyft.

I can't see any info on the discount.

Personally, I'd write another email and point out that their own TOS state card credits are not like promotion credits, that they are the exact same as cash and there is simply no reason for Lyft not to treat them as such. I'd ask for the credit for the discount again.

That is one persons _claim_. There own TOS don't appear to support this statement. I _suspect_ they they have programmed their system not to allow discounts when a card is used but that appears to be their mistake. I can claim that the world is flat... does not make it so.

based on the many one-star reviews on Amazon (where I buy everything) this is not an isolated case.
