One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

Who am I?
My spline is 46"
My leading edges are about 80"
And my wingspan is about 133"

I have a bit of amnesia and can't remember who I am. If you have any info, please help me! I'd love to know my history!

Thanks in Advance!

I don't recognise you yet, but to help figure out who you are, and possibly get some clues as to your age, can you tell us a little more about yourself?

Such as:

1. What are you framed with? Any identifying marks on your spars?

2. What kind of fittings are used as connectors and centre T? Standoffs?

3. Do you know the fabric used for your skin?

4. You are a big one at eleven feet. How much do you weigh?

5. Do you feel like you have crashed? What kind of damage? (Possibly the amnesia, for one thing.)

Others may also chime in with their thoughts on your identity.

Patience is a fine virtue.

#1: 3-wrap CF throughout
#2: Older versions of APA's throughout
#3: RSN
#4&5: those won't have anything to do with what kite this is.

If you look close, the bridle/tow-point connection is a ring.
There are 2 standoffs per wing.
There are no tags/writing on the kite at all.

Thanks for helping answer some of those questions. Hopefully someone will know what kite it is!

I can assure you this is a Pandora’s Box by Flying Wings. Probably 15 yrs old. 10ft trick kite... does it have a turbo bridle?

I sold one of these a couple of years ago here on the forum, white, teal, purple and black version.

Sail should be 3/4 oz nylon.

How do I know if it has a turbo bridal? I know it has rings right now for the tow points. Also it is in the mail to me, I should have it today!!

Also Could you post a picture of your kite you had to the "Large Framed Dual Line Sport Kite!" topic in Pictures and Videos? We need more picture of big kites in that thread. Hopefully I'll get out and fly more soon and get some pictures of my big kites to add to it!!

Thanks

Pablo that is...I have not see one in that color pattern before, better memory than i have.

HiNator86 you might want to wander around in my archive of catalogs and files, you will find some ones to search for!

Look in the BFK 1997 catalog

Ah, yes. Flying Wings goes back a ways. I still have a MYSL !

On the topic at hand, poking around the old BFK catalogue again (linked by thief above) has been fun.

For reference, here are the particulars of the Pandora as it appeared in BFK's 1997 online site:

Edit: Pic of a blue one: http://www.bfk.com/kite97/kx3294.htm

Text of the BFK catalogue description:

Flying Wings - Pandora

This is a giant 10 1/2 foot kite that combines the power of a big wing with the precision, handling, and agility of a 8 foot kite. 3/4 oz Nylon sail on a rock solid wrapped carbon frame. It weighs in at 12.5 oz. with a wide 4-25 mph wind range. The kite generates enough power to take lines from 75-300#.

That is a pretty low weight for a larger kite. I know of many eight footers weighing more. Interesting, and may speak to the framing.

(side note: I referenced the weight in my earlier post in the event that there may have been various versions of the kite or some other clue which, at least to my mind, might have been assistance in identifying the kite. fwiw.)

I do like the old big kites!

Looking thru the catologs, I may need some more funds to find some kites!!

Thanks to all that helped identify my kite!
