One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

I think that is a tongue hanging down, not a tie.

SpongeBob always wears a tie, and keeps his tongue to himself

Gotta love when Jay Leno asked a girl on the street who lived at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave she did not know, but when asked who lived in a pineapple at the bottom of the ocean she replied "SpongeBob"

So, I gotta ask, is this a Rev made kite, a one of a kind made by an individual or a knockoff sold in mass.
All the great kite comments are totally invalid if this is a knockoff.
Not my humble opinion, no one really has a humble opinion, just my opinionated opinion, which is very anti-knockoff!
I'm hoping it's a Revolution made kite. Sad

This kite is not made by Revolution. Generally Revolution does not condone home made kites such as this as long as they are not being sold. (I'm sure there is much more to it than that, but I think that is the general idea)

Revolution and Nickelodeon must be fighting over who will pay the lawyers. . .

You do realize that Korea is the knock-off capitol of the world right? From Gucci bags to Rolex watches there's nothing safe from the Korean knock-off artist. And if those companies lawyers can't stop it, what chance do you think Revolution or Nickelodeon have?

I thought the deal was that if you bought a Rev and made a custom sail for it (not for resale), they were cool with it (a la kiteslinger's tribal Revs).

I was given the impression that Rev was used to getting custom orders for single color sails (which generally tended to be the background color).

I think Watty lost/changed his train of thought while he was writing.  Ben (Revolution manager) has stated in the Rev forum that he has no trouble with folks making Rev-like kites for their personal use, but he has the come a parts with folks making and selling Rev copies.

I agree with Ben ... selling or buying knock offs is an unacceptable theft from the original companies.  Knock-off artists are stealing from all of us.  In Rev's case, they have supported individuals, the public, festivals, other events and kiting in general.  They are working hard to grow the kiting community.  The knock-off artists haven't invested a penny in supporting the kiting community.

Sorry, now where does this soap box go?

Regards,
Tom
