I have added bridle mods to two three four of my kites.

Paradox (inspected by Andy).

Team Hawaiian.

It seems my activator legs were too close to the tow point.

So today I just added a similar mod to my NSR (no photos yet).

The key (according to Andy) is to add the links about mid-way

between the tow point and the kite attachments.

Anyone else done some Wardley mods?

My brain just can't work out the perspective.  Logically, the right wing is closer to the camera, but it just isn't coming together for me  Cheesy

Kevin, try thinking the left is closer, cam lens is left hand side of spine, just. Well thatís as I see it anyway

Sadly, I never took a picture of the all-wind self-adjusting bridle.

It was really ugly.

Although I do remember now doing an I2K Wardley thing.

What sort of flight improvements have you realized by Wardley-izing your TOTL collection?  I can't imagine a Hawaiian flying like anything but a big happy truck. What did I miss those so many years ago? How's it in the backspin Cheesy

The Hawaiian flies about the same as it did before.

Andy told me the bridle was too close to the tow point.

The I2K stock bridle was horrible. I couldn't make the kite

turn inside of a 15 foot radius. That's just my kite. Other I2K

kites I flew were "normal". So I made an entirely new bridle

so a comparison doesn't really work.

I'll let you know on the very digital response NSR.  Smiley

I "Wadley-ized" our NSR. The bridle is based on his design for the  Phantom Elite. It worked well for Emmalee and it was never adjusted. I moved it up 1/8" one time in light wind and she said it didn't fly right. The only other change was to a 7P frame that proved to be unbreakable, even when I flew it. I would be happy to provide exact dimensions for the bridle, but we're selling the house and the kites are packed in a Pod right now.


I have a question for you. Do you remember the day that Emmalee flew the stack of six kites? I'm trying to figure out what they are. I thought they were Hyperkites, but I think those are smaller. These are six footers. I just found them in the attic. That was the only time they were ever flown.

Sorry. Don't remember the 6 stack.

Mark Lummas said my Wardley bridle took away the "immediate" reaction

of the static bridle.

At my skill level, the smoother flight is  more important.

You can see the Wardley-bits in the photo.

I've learned that the stacked kites were made by Flying Wings long ago. They are well made with ripstop sails and pultruded rods. The connectors are APA.


I'm splitting the six stack into two three stacks. Six is too much for me. Too many tangles.


By the way, I made the same bridle for the V.I.P. (vented NSR) and Kona (ultralight NSR) and wasn't happy with either of them.
