One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.

Another thought on the Turtle, try it from the ground. Let the nose fall slightly forward then pop & slack, the kite will roll onto it's back. Let it settle and do it again. This will get you out of the higher winds at altitude and let you get the feel, and prove your kites will do it.

edit: Do this on grass, not sand, can be hard on wingtip rods if they're buried 

Given enough slack the kite will roll 360 degrees and land in that nose down & forward no-launch position but when you pull on the lines it will unroll back to it's wingtips. This is a convenient way to park the kite in a stable state that won't blow away when you want to take a break.

Hey that is a cool suggestion. I have been able to pop into a turtle easy from the ground when the wind was light enough. The last couple of times I was out the wind was in the 8-10mph range, and probably a bit higher. I was actually surprised by how much the Soul was pulling.

I have noticed that I learned to stall my Micron easier than the Soul, which is why I was thinking that a smaller kite might be easier for me to learn on.

I will work on it this week and see how it goes.

well, the pop just before slack really worked. I got a couple of hours in this afternoon and managed to get my kite to roll up fully, not once but on two occasions. Interesting as it was the Micron I was flying at the time. 

I could not believe it, that little kite just flopped back after the pop/slack and kept on going. Looked really cool when it unwound as well, it was so fast that I almost thought I missed it. I actually got it to do a backspin as well a couple of times, not pretty, not very flat, but it was definitely there.

Now, I just need a nice steady 8mph wind to try it on the SF and Soul.
