Well, team, the summer's over, autumn is here, and the hot temperatures are fading, but there's still a ton more kite flying to do!! First Sunday is coming up (day after tomorrow!) and should be a good day now that the dog days are done. (Forecast looks good! Right now it says high of 75, sunny, with winds WNW at 11.) There's a small festival (Sailwinds) at Cambridge, MD (Eastern Shore) on the 11th, and then the weekend of the 17th & 18th there is the Outer Banks Stunt Kite Competition at Kill Devil Hills, NC, and the Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard Grape Stomp in Dickerson, MD.
...but wait, there's STILL more! November generates another First Sunday Fly (of course)...and I'll note here that while the calendar lists that as combination First Sunday/Annual Elections, the Annual Meeting/Elections will likely happen another day in November, TBA. THEN, if you're still jazzed to fly and if you've got it in you to make the long trip, there is the Cape Fear Kite Festival at Wrightsville Beach, NC on the 7th and 8th of November; it's truly a kiters' party and great end of the season blowout.
...but wait, there's STILL, STILL more! As I've mentioned before, we're hoping for another indoor fun fly before the end of the year, so stay tuned for the date & times for that. Also, before we know it, we'll be starting indoor flies/practice sessions to prep for the Air & Space Museum Indoor event in March. Still trying to organize a workshop or two over the winter, also. Annnnnd...now that it's getting to be the "off season", keep your eyes peeled for those impromptu weekend flies at Sandy Point State Park when the weather is good. We're sure to uncork them, and we'll do our best to post announcements on the WOW forum and get e-mails out.
If you're interested in any of the above, check the calendar for POCs or get back to me and I'll get you hooked up or provide information as I can. Hope I didn't miss anything!
Fair winds and following seas!
