Welcome to the GWTW Forum.
Guests (non-registered users) can view the forum but are unable to post.  If you don't have anything to say then why would you bother to register?
One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

You can get to an archive URL of your Picasa group.

I'm not sure if one may add to that or if it is visible

to outsiders. Text is still there on the archive page.

Archive link from google photos for my Picasa website.

https://get.google.com/albumarchive/110054276296809616662?source=pwa

Hopefully, this should still have

  text on photos
  update capability
  private albums kept private

Looks like the order of albums is different depending on whether an outsider

or the owner is viewing. That is odd.

What's weird is when you go to your Picasa album from your saved link, it redirects you to your album in get.google.com but none of the links on this site redirect the same way. Roll Eyes

Remember the simpler days when future technologies were to take us to a better world? I'm still waiting! Sad

I downloaded all my picasaweb albums (just in case).

Then I went ahead and let google link them to Google Photos.

Here's a test of an image post from Google Photos (the same way I used to do it from picassa)

Looks like the main difference is with Picasa you could select a smaller size image (400 pixel vs 600, etc). I don't know what controls the size now. Maybe Forum SW limits? The image URL is a lot longer now too.

fascinating...
so...my picasa folders are all set in the the Google Takeout area...and i cannot get to anyone else's folders that were online...

BUT....

you had the option of "following" a picasa user and getting an email update when they uploaded a picture (this is how i found Chilly's KTAI pix before he posted them up here)....and...I am still getting daily emails saying that certain users have uploaded new photos....
This is one of the features that i LOVED about picasa. the ability of getting notices when images were uploaded and one that I am going to miss, except..maybe it will be brought into photos....

pull the image up in picasa, then right click on the image.  you should be given an option to "copy image address"   Then come back to the forum and hit the Image button and paste in between the image tags.
As Allen stated the url for the direct image now is long and hideous.   the link above is the url for the image above...

yep!!

Kitebug, you seem to have an infestation in your yard...

Is this from you Google Photos? Where did you get the link from?
Edit: Never mind, just noticed Thief's advice on pulling it from Picasa. I was hoping it was straight from Photos Sad
