One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.

It bears repeating.

Made it out to Liberty Today for a few Hours.

Flew off the earthen pier at the first parking lot on the S side.

Winds were in the 7-10mph range SE right off the lower bay.

Really couldn't ask for a better fly.

Gotta get out there more often.

Where is the earthen pier?  Is this before you reach Freedom Way?  I was in the park in the afternoon and the winds were brisk.  The Quantum was a bit of a handful during the gusts.

Yes, it is before you reach Freedom Way.

It's that first parking lot in the park about a 1000ft past the diner on the right.

It really is the best spot to fly out there for the rec flier as long as the wind is anywhere E, S, or even W to some degree. Best from S, SE, SW.

There is room to fly with 125' lines.

The only downside is that it can get a bit crowded with more than Two fliers.

During the warm weather it is packed with sunbathers on the weekends: not so when the cold winds blow.

I've never flown there. I've always flown by the play area and by the bridge to Ellis Island. Is it much smoother there? (It's already pretty nice by the bridge and it's a huge field.)

The nice feature is it is on the water so you are less dependent on wind direction than in the park.  The negative is the area is not that big.  The day I flew there I did not experience lulls to the extent I have seen in the park.
