Welcome to the GWTW Forum.
Guests (non-registered users) can view the forum but are unable to post.  If you don't have anything to say then why would you bother to register?
One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

I'm on wave, but I don't have any invites to hand out (yet, at least).  I think it's kind of a neat concept, email-like messaging, or IM style if both participants are online at the same time.

Ars Technica had an interesting article on using it to facilitate D&D gaming:
http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2009/10/google-wave-we-came-we-saw-we-played-dd.ars

It might be an interesting way to collaborate on kiting events.

That's exactly what it's for...collaboration on projects, documents, etc. Too many people think it's an email replacement or some new IM platform, when it's really a platform for collaboration. If you have a use for that, it seems like a great tool, if not, it's like having a table saw for no reason.
