One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.

It's just a 3 day drive one way for you East Coast Boys.  Smiley

Darren, what brought this on?

Other than it's a really nice photo, that is.  Smiley

Thanks for the invite to come fly. I will make it out there someday... Vegas is high on the places to visit list in our household. I would be a dead duck if I went without my wife, though.

An invite to forum members that might be visiting the NYC area... I would be happy to show you places to fly if you make it out east towards the Hamptons or wine country.  I've got a few good spots scoped out...

Lynn and I will be in Las Vegas starting Oct 12th 2010, leaving on the 20th for an Airstream Rally in Parker, AZ.  We'll bring our kites with us.  (We always have our kites with us.)

We'll be at the Suncoast.  I think that is not too far from the field?

Oh well, i flew anyway even if it was 13-15mph, 44 degrees and 35 with windchill..
It was fun too flying one handed trying to get a good shot to send you guys...

nice picture dano. we missed you too. for the first time i hoofed it down to the hallowed spot known as ivanpah dry lake bed yesterday. courtesy of kent kingston, had my first ride on a buggy, on one of his wind speed pro ivanpah race buggies no less. talk about starting out at the top; his buggy is as comfortable as my living room couch. a different experience for sure than flying dual line stunters, but it was a great time.

jim, the suncoast is on the other side of town from the silverbowl. the closest hotel/casino/resort is either sunset station, or sam's town. the good news is, even though it's on the other side of town, it's not really all that far. it's maybe a 30 minute drive. chilese would know, he lives over there on the northwest side and would be able to advise the best route.

What are you all doing Friday, June 4?

I have a conference down there that starts at noon Sunday and I'm trying to see if I can arrange my schedule to come down Friday instead of Sunday morning.  Smiley   Last year I got in Sunday morning and left right after it was over Wed afternoon. No time to even get out at night.  Sad

flying kites my man. bring it!

my hope for this thread was people who came to town for other reasons, would arrange their schedules to include some flying with us.

it's here to plant seeds in all your brains. pay attention and listen closely ... las vegas equals kite flying fun ...... as well as some other stuff.

it would appear my evil plan is starting to play out. muahahaha!

but srsly, come fly with us. it's a good time.

I'll keep working on the schedule.

I flew with John one night when I was there a couple of years ago but not over Friday. Last year it was such a quick trip I didn't get any flying in at all. Gotta change that.
