One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

So I bought a few kites from our local kite pusher, and got a very cool bonus, another kite. Gotta love the big guy.

But.... I don't really know this kite.

skb™ says it may be the "El Pronto". Now you know as much as I do. Anyone out there who could shed some additional light on this mylar paneled oldie?

zippy8, maybe?  Roll Eyes

Hi John,

Perhaps could you try to join Jean Lemire, a young kiteflyer from Canada.  Wink

I saw Jean in Dieppe kite festival 2008.

He owns many "Azur cerfs-volants" kites and is often flying kites in dual (like Ray Bethell).

Look at this very nice picture too !  Sad

Umm... I think I might have something about this back home. Another Wind-named kite store's advertising material possibly. I'm not there for another week though.

Oh yes.... something in an issue of Kite Passion too.

Didn't it come in a rigid tube ?

Mike.

Thanks guys,

Paul Shirey was kind enough to pull out the 1997 Spring-Summer issue of Kite Lines.

He scanned data and a review which I will post along with the pictures.

Kite Passion, No. 14 (Dec./Jan. '99), page 10 - What's New

A picture and the blurb.. El Pronto is meticulously made and comes in a transparent tube. Also, was distributed in Europe by Wolfe (of Big~Little Brother~Sister fame).

I saw someone flying them Jean Lemire flying them at Mots Int'll kite festival this year.
They seemed to be slower, and they did some nice really float flatspins. I saw them in low winds, they seem to handle nicely there.
He flew them on probably 100foot line, at a lower line weight for the winds- So i'm assuming they don't pull so hard. Just my 2 cents.
