Welcome to the GWTW Forum.
Guests (non-registered users) can view the forum but are unable to post.  If you don't have anything to say then why would you bother to register?
One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

Hey Jeff,

What's the deal with Smithsonian? Do they need to raise a certain amount of money to continue the event? Please advise.

Thanks!

YES, Chris money is always the real issue, the sponsors of the festival are the Smithsonian Associates (not the museum folks, they're supported by contributions entirely not the taxpayers!) Usually there are some big-wig funders available to tap but this year they need a big slice of dough just to do a streamlined down version of the festival  we all know and love.  $10K minimum for the start button, their full budget is almost 20, the city's bond requirement is over three alone!)
