One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

See below, another kids kiting event on Friday, April 2nd, near Winchester. Seems they're interested in kites for show, display, and demonstration. Info below if anyone's interested in taking part.

Greetings!

I've spoken with Mr. Workman about their desire to have a kite workshop/demo near the town of Marshall, VA.  The date is April 2nd (day before Win(d)chester) and the official kite event runs from noon to about 3pm.  From noon to 1pm, they will have a kite workshop using Frustrationless Flyer kits.  Then, the plan is to have open flying on the fields at their park from 1pm to about 3pm.  Supposedly they have three football fields that they plan to reserve for flying.  I haven't been out to see the fields yet, so can't comment on their suitability (suspect they have trees close but not sure).  I'll be out there this coming week to survey the site, and can then provide more information to anyone who is interested in participating.

The date was chosen as this is a "Spring Break" week for the local schools and it will be easy to get lots of participaton, according to Mr. Workman.  Having said that, he plans to have 40 kite kits on hand (I'll have more if they need them and hopefully they will).

They would like to have some other kites flying to show the kids and also as an attraction for those who attend but don't participate in the workshop.

If anyone is interested in participating or getting more info, let me know!

Hello,

My name is Patrick Workman and I am the program coordinator for the
Northern Region of Fauquier County Parks and Recreation.  I saw your
website and I must say I was very impressed.  We recently opened a
beautiful 88 acre park back in May.  We have 8 sports fields and on a
sunny and breezy day like today it would seem like an ideal place to
fly kites.  Basically the reason I am writing you is that I wanted to
know if anyone in your club would be interested in helping us with a
kite workshop and possibly even help us with a demonstration.  We
would like to do this the last week of March or early April to give
the children in the community activities to do over spring break.  I
look forward to hearing from you and any information, ideas, or
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
