After several weeks of high pressure systems, above normal temperatures, no clouds and no wind, Sunday was like a breath of fresh air (yes, I get it).
The temperatures were in the low 60s, winds were low, peaking at maybe 3 mph. During the course of 3 hours, I flew in all directions, hunting for the wind with my Inner Space. There was a slight sweat from doing my backward walk and pumping the kite back up to the heavens.
The clouds were stunning in both variety and in the way they let the sky show through. I was without camera or fellow fliers. Just watching the kite sometimes power up when a gust came up or tumble as the wind changed direction was an almost forgotten feeling.
But for some reason, what struck me most was all the different shades of blue. Maybe because I was flying in all directions during the afternoon, or the way the sky pushed between the different cloud formations. But there were all these blues. From the pale blue/white at the horizon to the almost blue black directly overhead. I really couldn't remember thinking about the sky like this before.
I spent the next day in bed with a brutal head cold, but am looking forward to getting back out to the field and maybe paying a little more attention to the area around the kite and not the kite itself.
Hope this make sense to you. Normally, I'm not the romantic, but the sky was beautiful that day.
