Welcome to the GWTW Forum.

One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

picked one up at a moving sale, complete.  runs but has a bit of trouble backing up, when starting in reverse I hear a high pitched noise coming from the motor.  I was told that this is associated with the ESC ? The data I found says it has a 15T motor so would any brand motor with 15 turns work?  I have no intention of racing it, just use with the grand kids and maybe the kids next door.  I figure with the price of parts, perhaps an upgrade would be in order so we can keep playing with it. Found a brushless, programmable set up  by Assassin. thoughts or opinions welcome.

It may just be a loose gear or worn gears. If it is the motor, any brand 15t or higher motor should work but if the motor runs it's probably not the motor. If you switch to brushless beware they may have too much power for the rest of the drive train. You also need a matched brushless ESC and motor. You can't just use your current speed control with a brushless motor.
