Welcome to the GWTW Forum.
Guests (non-registered users) can view the forum but are unable to post.  If you don't have anything to say then why would you bother to register?
One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

PRESS RELEASE
42st ANNUAL GREAT DELAWARE KITE FESTIVAL
AT CAPE HENLOPEN STATE PARK ON GOOD FRIDAY, APRIL 2, 2010
NO FEE TO ENTER COMPETITION – OPEN TO ALL AGES AND ABILITIES

The Great Delaware Kite Festival, co-sponsored by the Lewes Chamber of Commerce and the Delaware Division of Parks and Recreation, takes place at Cape Henlopen State Park on Good Friday, APRIL 2, 2010. This popular annual event regionally attracts kite fliers and spectators who line up to see the Easter Bunny and Kody O’Bear of Bear Hugs for Babies during the morning competitions.

Established 41 years ago when the Maharajah of Bharatpur, India challenged Delaware’s Governor to a kite flying contest, the competition proved to be a crowd pleaser. Year after year the championship continued and in time, people began coming with their own kites.  The festival draws thousands to Cape Henlopen Park to watch competitors vie for 18 judged prizes.  They also are treated to stunt kite flying demonstrations between competitions. The long term success of the Great Delaware Kite Festival was acknowledged by Delaware’s Governor Thomas R. Carper in 1998 when the event captured the Governor’s Hall of Fame Tourism Award for Outstanding  One Day Special Event.

Business and community leaders have donated awards for novice and advanced competitors of all ages.  Six special class awards will be designated for superlatives, such as the smallest competitor and most senior competitor.

There is no entry fee for competitors. The competitions are in three age categories: Children-Up to age 12; Teens-13-17 and Adults-18 & older. Within each age category, kite flyers are judged by the type of kite they are flying—home-made or store-bought.  The Highest Kite Award category is open to all ages and takes place at 12:15 p.m.  There is no charge to watch.  Entrance fees apply for cars to enter the State Park which will be collected at the entrance to the Park - $4 per car for Delaware license tags and $8 per car for out-of-state tags.

Registration begins at 9:00 a.m.  The Children’s and Teen’s competitions take place from 10:00 a.m. to Noon followed by the awards ceremony for the morning competitions.  The Adult Competitions, Stunt Kite Competitions, Novice Individual Precision Competitions and the Open Individual Ballet Competitions follow the Highest Kite Competition which begins immediately after the morning awards ceremony.  The awards ceremony for the afternoon competitions concludes the day’s activities.  Note that the times may vary according to weather conditions and the number of competitors.
