a ptezl pulley is going ot cost a good chunk of change....if i am going to walk a kite down on a biner i also have a 2'long webbing strap on it as the handle so it is more comfortable...
I use a piece of cut off broom handle with a hook screwed into the end. I hook the binder on the line and hook my broom handle set up to that. Works like a champ, and if for some safety reason you need to let go...the handle goes up with the line and falls back to the ground and the biner slides back down the line to the stake..
Never needed or used gloves....but I always stake it down first, run out the line, launch the kite. Only touch the line tying it to the stake and then the kite, but then i use premade 150' lines and put several on a halo winder for different kites I might fly that day.....simplicity at it's best
