Welcome to the GWTW Forum.
Guests (non-registered users) can view the forum but are unable to post.  If you don't have anything to say then why would you bother to register?
One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

The statistics provided by the forum software are interesting but some what limited so I enabled Google Analytics on the site about 2 weeks ago.

Here is some info that I found interesting about this little forum:

We average 1000 visits per day.

In the 2 week period there have been almost 2000 unique visitors.

The average visitor spends 8:30 minutes on the forum and views 8 1/2 pages.

We have had visitors from 52 countries.

The most visited sections (other that the main index) are in order ... Swap Meet, Sport Kites, Photos and Videos and Website Discussion.

Only 321 visits were from mobile devices.  You do know that the are mobile versions of this site available, don't you?  In case you missed it:
http://www.gwtwforum.com/index.php?wap
http://www.gwtwforum.com/index.php?wap2
http://www.gwtwforum.com/index.php?imode

80% of the visitors are on Windows Machines and 16% on an Apple OS.

45% use IE, 34% Firefox and 13% Safari.

There you go ... more than you ever wanted to know about the forum.

2000 unique visitors over a 2 week period when there are only 1183 registered users, that's a lot of 'lurkers'. The question of the day would be, how do you encourage them to sign up and contribute?

They'll keep coming back if we give them a reason! Kites aren't for everyone (hard to believe, huh?) so even if we get a percentage back, it helps to spread the good word.

I'm a believer in each one, reach one. With those kinds of numbers, we should be able to hook up with someone who's interested in our own area. I remember seeing a flyers map someplace but I can't remember where it was. Maybe we could start that up again.

Interesting stuff, Steve.

I hadn't seen the mobile versions and can't find reference to them browsing the help, etc. right now. Can you describe the differences between them, or what devices they're each oriented toward? I sometimes access the forum traveling with an iPod Touch.

Thanks.
