One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.

I oncew worked at a recording studio, and as an off-shot we manufactured
"Volkspeakers". We were enventually approached by "Volks"wagon automobiles. We hd to change the name to "Folkspeakers" or get sued by Volkswagan for trademark infringement... Cool

no idea about the kite though Grin

I flew the kite at KP8 briefly. And let me preface this with the fact that my Rev skills are even weaker than my dual-line abilities.

It has an adjustable spar to go from user friendly (beginner (looks like 2 diamonds sortof)) to "advanced" (looks more like a Spirit).

In either configuration that adjustable spar has a resonant frequency causing the kite to kind of "caterpillar" in a high speed forward dash.

In the upside down mode, I was able to hold a rock steady hover, something I can't even get close to on a Rev.

Visually, I like the look of the kite.

No, it doesn't fly as well as a Rev.

Yes, it is about 1/3 the price and includes handles/lines.

The VolkQuad will be available for demo
April 10-11  Voice of America Park, Cincinnati, (West Chester) Ohio
Just find NTK rep Cassie  Shook, She has one with her.
One was flown by a few folks at KP8 but  only one has chimed in with opinions so far

Chime #2
+1 to what John posted. I did like the kite and I think it will be a great entry for a beginner into the quad world. When de-tensioned the Volks seemed to wake up and became alot more fun. It's not a Rev but from what I heard about the price point, I think NTK has a winner.

Yep, there will be a bunch of quad flyers to give it a try down there.

in germany it is called Tarantula, but it is an improved version made of Icarex and Dynamic-spars. The kite is a Christoph Fokken design btw

Question:
What do you mean by "de-tensioned"?

There are line tensioning slide clips on each side:

Increased tension = more bow in the main spar = lower performance, deader flight characteristics.

Decreased tension = less bow (flatter kite) = more responsiveness to inputs.

Still doesn't have same precision as Revs - not bad but ....

Disclaimer - my opinions based on maybe 30 minutes air time in bad wind conditions. Now, if I can get some actual wind, I can get some time in with my Airbow and maybe figure out how to fly it!
