I am drooling for the manta but I don't know when Focus Kite Design is going to start to make them again.  I may go with the Wala XL because that's all there is for a big glider. I've got the original Aerobe (Wala) and it's pretty maneuverable.  It looks a bit more responsive, too.  None the less, if I could get my hands on a Manta, it's my first choice.  Of course the king of zero-wind responsive gliders is Thomas Horvath and his Swiss kites, but then your talking real dough.  I've go two of his smaller kites and they are sweet.  Anybody out there have a Manta they are willing to part with?

Ken will still make you a 61/49 over there at Blue Moon Kites --->

They are big and IMO more fun, they have a bit if a mind if their own so you have to work with them, but they reward you by being the trickiest of any of the no/low wind gliders. Not as suitable for indoor flying while sitting in your chair though.

I saw a XL Aerobe(Walla) at Seaside at the AKA auction, very pretty but did not see it fly.  I flew my Manta, Hybrid 240 and Skate in the zero to light morning winds everyday at Seaside.  The Hybrid 240 glides the best.  Saw Horvaths "A Long way home" being flown one day. Very sweet.

Where did you find your manta? Are they making them again?  Seaside must have been outstanding!  You know, I've considered the 61/49 because I like the flatspins and tricks but the video's make it look a bit heavy and not terribly floaty.  Have I got it wrong?

The 61/49 is not floaty compared to a Manta....but then they are very different kites!

Personally I like being able to put the Manta up in 2mph and have it pasted to the sky....I am not going ot actively try to fly a 11' delta with a frame like it has....I know that other people do though.

the 61/49 is a blast...it is designed to me more actively flown....heavier framing...higher tension line...differently efficient sail....it is not as floaty...but hen it does not drop to the ground either....

Honestly i would say that both belong in a bag of yours...

Cordover where are you located?   a local flyer might have some for you to play with.....

Last I heard, Focus Kites is still working on getting their full production back; since Paul's move to WA. Only Jinx and Skates are in production. I'm still waiting for a Manta to be back in the make myself.
