Folks,

I had heard rumors, but now have some direct confirmation.

Lam has a new kite - a bit smaller than his previous kites.  He had it at the Pac Rim festival last weekend and the kite was very well received by some experienced flyers that tried it out.

Just when I thought I was done buying kites!  Smiley

Not too many details yet - Lam told me it would be his weapon of choice at tricks-party and that he is now designing the applique details.  I'm thrilled - I know that several of us had been asking Lam about designing a smaller kite - I can't wait to try it.

-Tom

So if it's goind to be his weapon of choice at tricks party, does that mean that he'll bring TP back this side of the Atlantic? Just wondering Shocked

I thought that the Fearless already was smaller. So does this bloke. Or have I misunderstood again ?

How small are you talking this time ?

Mike.

The Fearless and the Sea Devil both have the same wingspan. I would rather hear that he was making a bigger kite, but there are certain smaller kites that are fun, too.

Smaller kite needs quick hands and quicker reflex.  Also running out of tricks to trick faster.  Cry   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I was fortunate enough to be around, when Lam was in the the early stages of designing the Fearless.  My initial impression was that he wanted to make a 3/4 version of the Sea Devil. The first models of the Fearless took him in a different direction.

Personally I'd like to see a larger version of the Fearless. Maybe he will do that one of these days.

I'm not sure on the measurements, all I was told was that its smaller and a lower aspect ratio. I  don't think it is radically smaller.  FL and SD seem standard size to me, btw - certainly quite close to say a Nirvana in overall size. I just looked it up - they are the same size height and width.

I think Lam has a specific idea in mind with this kite - the good news is that the festivals on the west coast are just kicking in so we should get some good opportunity to see and try the kite out very soon.

Lincoln city is coming up soon.

It would be pretty cool to see someone build a trickable 10 ft. kite... Big kites are so much fun.

Would this new, smaller kite be the Transformer TL that appears in Lam's new video on Facebook (that's FB to those in the know  Undecided ) ?

That is one squared off kite. It reminds me of the AirHoover Mohawk....
