Welcome to the GWTW Forum.
Guests (non-registered users) can view the forum but are unable to post.  If you don't have anything to say then why would you bother to register?
One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

Beater Rev in my hands.

Every one who has already guessed will get a 2nd guess and your first guess will still count. That is your reward for voting early. New guessing starts and a deadline date will be announced.

My thanks to a very good friend north of the border.  Smiley

Yes, it's time to break in the new GWTW Forum with a contest. There is a reason HOLEY is spelled that way in the title.

RULES:
1 Look at the photo ABOVE of a harmless B-Series Rev (the 1988 Rev 1 will be spared).
2 Now, think about a soldering iron poking lots of small holes into the sail.
3 Think of the number of holes I will be poking into the sail.
4 Email (put CONTEST in title block) your guess to Steve Hall at his email address.
5 Do NOT post your guess on the Forum.
6 State that you have entered in this thread so Steve can verify entry to entrant.
7 One entrant per GWTW Forum member. No changes.
If you have already guessed for the Rev 1, send in a new guess for the Rev 1.5. Both guesses will count for the Rev 1.5. Write in your email your first guess if you have already entered.
8 The person who comes closest to the exact hole count wins.
9 Ties will be decided by Steve Hall.
10 Prizes will be awarded by whatever criteria Steve chooses.
11 Rules may be changed in any way at any time.
12 Contest deadline date is April 15th noon Forum time.

When done, I will post a picture for everyone to verify the number of holes. Going for something like the Vented High Level shown on right. Both photos are hyperlinked. The Rev 1 will be spared.

I am open to suggestions on the best way to perform this pokeoscopy.

SO John,
Can you give us any clues?  Any?

Like how big the diameter of the prod you're gonna use on this beast?  That might help some of us out that like to count.  Course that can be a problem if you have to keep starting over after you forget how many you had already counted.   Hmmmh........There are demented minds every where one looks these days Sad

Guess sent.

Email your guess to Steve Hall at his email address.
Can you insert a direct link to Steve's eMail address so folks won't have to search?

I've heard a cigar works well but takes some time. Cool
My suggestion is that 1) you have a template to where the holes go, and 2) you heat up the end of a piece of 1" copper pipe and just keep melting them away.

Diameter of holes may be estimated by these clues:

Soldering iron
Poking lots of small holes
like the Vented High Level

Finding Steve's email is part of the contest.  Smiley

Could you post Steve's email address or is it just the GWTW email address?
This is fun!

Anyone want to send me a much newer Rev 1 to poke holes into?

I'm reminded of the magazine that had some type of "Buy this magazine or we shoot the dog" thing going on the cover. Oh, I think I found it.

That would need to be a big-ass soldering iron. The holes on the Level One are at least 3/8".

Cutting a circle might be better for your health than melting a hundred coin size hunks of nylon.

Make two or three cutting tools so you won't be waiting for one to heat up. Have fun!

Yeah I remember that issue.............reminds me of a contest with no rules that can be changed at any time Grin
