One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

Played a little bit with one of the Wala XL photos.

I had said that the grey panels were probably meant to be a beak if the eyes were going to make any sense on the panel layout.

So here is a photo where the grey panels have been changed to yellow. That would be a no cost change to the design probably. Adding the nostrils might cost a little teeny bit more. But the eyes now look like they belong. Other color schemes using yellow might need to be reworked.

I've sent an email to Flying Wing with the photo as a suggestion for future builds.

You people with one already, could just draw in the nostrils with a Sharpie™.

You know, the design does make sense, now. The reason I haven't bought one yet is the eyes... they just don't look right to me. Although it does kind of remind me of my Gayla Bat kite from the 70s...

I do have and Aerobie but I don't care for the eyes.  The eyes caused me to hesitate in buying one of the kites.  I do like John's change to go ahead and make the face obvious.  Prefer no nostril dots, just change the color to bring out the beak.

I find its a wonderful idea! The eyes already place this kite in the "not abstract type" so I think it goes very well with the theme.

I have always felt it was a more 'marine like' creature.

So leaving it as the designer intended is fine with me

to me the small one looks great as a fish, the panel/color layout on the big one looks horrible as a fish, but the panel/color on the big one looks fine as a bird.

though i'd still only buy a larger one were it available with the panel layout of the smaller one. if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I think the Jungle (green) looks alot like a parrot, grey beak and all...
