Welcome to the GWTW Forum.
Guests (non-registered users) can view the forum but are unable to post.  If you don't have anything to say then why would you bother to register?
One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

I started a new job this week in an isolated, secure building here at NASA Ames. Cool job, but one of the real benefits is my own private flying field right out the back door. Unobstructed wind off the Bay. Hope they keep it mowed!   Smiley Smiley Smiley

If it's secure, I'm surprised they let you take a picture.  Roll Eyes

Wave "hi" to all my coworkers in Des Moines if you happen to pass by em?
Seems like half our project team went to school at Ames.

And hey, maybe you'll still be there when the 4th Annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival takes place next February.

Ames Research Center is at Moffet Field. California, not Iowa.  Wink

Not secure as in "secret", secure as in "a safe place to put stuff".

The building is more robust than some of the other datacenters at Ames. It has long housed critical stuff like the E Root Name Servers and beefy internet pipes (MAE West used to be housed there).
