One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

Labor Day Kite Fly at Monterey has been a fun kite fly for us the past seven years. This year other committments take us to another state to fly kites.  We hope all kite flyers who show up at Monterey have a wonderful kite fly.  We will miss you all.

So, you're taking your kite show to another state, huh? (Was it what I said about your friend Raz?  Cheesy) Vee and I were anxious to show you guys our new Camper and my "Shark-bike" project I did this Summer. (so a picture will have to do) I know I should have been working on my kite trick skills, but I wanted to finish the bike so you could give it a spin around the campground. Camping at Monterey won't be the same without you guys. We were looking forward to our usual Chinese Dinner, especially the Won Ton Soup trick. I'll say hi to Ranger Max & his dog Koa for ya. Now I'll have to drink by myself, because you know Reverend Vee is a teetotaler. Thanks, buddy. Over the years the attendance at Monterey has dropped for one reason or another. First, one of the "local" flyers got married. Next, one moved out of town. Recently another "local" deleted his profile in the forum. Then there is the usual number of "no shows". From observing the flow of this forum (especially the Beginners Corner and Swap Meet) there appears to be a general decline in kiting (people quitting). So, if the number of post in this thread is any indication of how many kiters will show up, Vee and I should have the beach pretty much to ourselves, except for the tourist. If it gets too crowded with tourist we'll just move to the other beach. I'll save you a campsite (for the first day) at Veteran's Memorial Park, just in case you change your minds. If not, have fun on your new adventure. (Antelope Island ??)  Tongue
