Welcome to the GWTW Forum.

One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

Poo.

I hope after the economy recovers they remove the fee. HAHAHA. Just like the airlines have removed the checked baggage fees or paying for even simple snacks onboard.

Hey there...

Most beaches in my area charge ~$10 per car. This has been going on for much longer than this 'economic downturn'. It's just pocket lining for the corrupt politicians...
Nothing but a stinking pile of poo !

I have less experience at Lake Fairfax Park than many club members, but it seems to me that it's been getting less and less conducive to flying there. Seems like every time we have a gathering of any kind there, we're tripping over the ultimate and cricket players.

We used to request use of the field for kite flying well in advance, but we haven't done that now in quite some time.  Thus, we're at the mercy of whomever else has done the paperwork and been granted usage rights.

I will check to see if there is anything open for us on a regular basis if the club wants to go that direction.

I used to go to the office at Lake Fairfax once a year and block out the weekends we wanted. They had a form for that, and seemed to appreciate that we would bother to fill out the form.

However, it was hard to pick dates ahead of time, and other events invariably overlapped. Also, they since they finished up the Mall and let us back onto our revered first Sunday fly spot, there has been a lot less interest in Lake Fairfax.

It would be nice to have an alternative for one of the other weekends each month.

I'd love to complain about the Lake Fairfax fee, but then I don't blink an eyelash about paying to get into Sandy Point to fly (tho' I confess we purchase an annual pass every year).
