One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

Dear all,

I'm new to this forum, and I could really use your knowledge on what type of kite this is. I came across it on petithomme.be's website (which is now down), dated Nieuwport 2009, and its construction baffled me so much that I saved it to my hard disk, to gawk at it at random intervals. My first thoughts went to a Marconi, or some sort of variant, but it doesn't really fit. It reminded me of the 61/49 too, but then again, that one also reminded me of the Marconi...

Thanks for any responses,

Kat.

P.S. I do hope I'm posting this in the right section.

Thanks for the reply! Synergy makes sense, I've built a tetrafoil, but with all these curved lines, it's impossible to make out what the sail is actually doing, and where the spars are in that back-sail.

It's very cool though, my next project will have lines too :p

Very cool kite, I can't help with the kite or the maker though. Synergy usually doesn't let the spars touch the sail though do they? Although I could see that kite coming from their shop, it's in line with their designs. If I were to make a second guess it would be from Windfire Designs. Past that I'd guess it's a homebuilt from a pretty skilled artist.

I definitely see inspiration from the Marconi/Platz and from the Carsten Canard in the kite.

I wonder if it needs the tail or it was done for looks. It's begging for black & white barber pole spinning tube(s) IMO if it needs the tail.
