Just found these vids of the elusive HQ Chrome. I have to admit it does look pretty impressive!!....but I'm still not convinced it's $400/250 worth of impressive.

Hmm, it looks like it can do all the current stuff, but there's a heap of other kites that can do that too.  Like you say, $400/250 worth?

Sorry, but they are flailing horrible videos.

No way would I drop that sort of coin based on that evidence.

Much better options elsewhere.

Hmmmm....having watched both the videos again (Ouch my eyes! Huh), it's pretty obvious that large chunks of both have been speeded up giving a very false impression of the actual speed of the kite...Why?...it makes the video worthless. ( watch the waves)

Considering that the Chrome is HQ's big step up into the world of high end kites, they've done a rubbish job of promoting it!!  Between the huge delay between it being launched and any information being available to potential buyers and now a video that doesn't show the kites actual performance, they seem to have shot themselves in the foot.

.....my money certainly won't be going on a Chrome!   Roll Eyes

Yeah, these videos did nothing to convince me to buy a factory kite for botique dollars. Not than I'm any better than the pilot, just it's not my style of flying. If it can't fly smooth, I don't want to fly it.  Angry

If you ever get the chance, try the Flying Wings Soul. Very smooth, very capable, very well put together, a really nice kite. You get an (almost) boutique kite for (more or less) factory money.   Wink

I've wanted to try the Soul, heard good things about it. Unfortunately, to try I kite I usually have to buy it, so there have always been kites higher on the list of wanna fly kites. I'm sure one will show up in the swap sooner or later that I can't let  go unsold...  Smiley

Alex from HQ commented somewhere else, that these videos are not official HQ videos. Can't wait to see them ...

I asked Alex on the HQ forum about reviews/videos for the Chrome back in August and he said both would be available shortly....apart from the ones on Youtube I've seen nothing. It just seems odd that they are being so secretive about their showpiece kite. A lot of people who were interested in the Chrome when it was first announced are now getting frustrated at the lack of any real information. I would really like the Chrome to be a great kite and a great success for HQ, but they are not making it easy.  Embarrassed
