One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.

Hi everyone ! I'm new to the forum, and so to stunt kites.
I've flown power kites and got a cheap stunt kite.
Two weeks ago I decided to get a Hypnotist.
It was before I discovered this forum and it's kite shop,
so I bought one from eBay. Embarrassed
It arrived today, and as I opened it I saw it was not the
Hypnotist in all of the pictures I've seen, but more of a"Retro look".
I opened one of the pamplets that came and it says something
about 05' models of prism.
So now I've got a 5 year old Hypno and no idea if it's any good
comparing to the new models.
If anyone got some experience with them I will appreciate any info
Should I keep it or get a refund? can it do all the Tricks in the book?
Thanks a lot !

If you got it cheap; keep it, learn the fundamentals from it, see if you like what you've got yourself into. Beginners'~introductory kites don't change much over the years. It'll be fine.

Not unless you have the abridged version  Wink You should get good mileage from it though and by the time you're a better pilot than the kite, you'll be pretty good.

What he said... really  Smiley

Go forth and fly, there be plenty of learning to be had in that kite, far more that I thought the first day I got mine, and I still enjoy flying it...

Have fun, don't fly to the point of frustration (much  Wink) and remember, it's not cool, never will be, and that might just be the best bit....

And to those who watch and read.... see, I listen  Wink

Not aware of any big changes except graphics maybe, the Hypnotist actually started life even earlier as the Mirage if I recall correctly. As long as it's a real Prism & not some unscrupulous copy your good, have fun with it. And remember GWTW/Chico Kites is an authorized Prism dealer, all replacement parts are available right here  Wink  but with your power kite experience I bet your beyond the pile driver stage though.

The Mirage was released in 2005.  At some point (early '06 I think) they had to change the name and was then known as the Hypnotist.  Can't remember when the sail changed to the current design but it has been a couple years at least.  Also some of the framing changed from the original Mirage.

Just curious (and none of my business) ... how much did you pay for that kite?

BTW ... whether it is a Hypnotist or a Mirage there will be a tag on the sail with the name of the kite.  Front of sail down by the base of the spine.

That looks to me to be the current Ice Hypnotist.  Sounds like you just got some old literature thrown in.
