One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

Hmmm...

I have noticed that more than a few folk here might know what the difference between a XP-G and a SST50, and maybe even a 18650 and a 14500..

And Zeke, I hear you and understand, I tried a self test with a low resistance Mac's custom P4 through an Aspheric built into a cut down low resistance 3D M@g powered with an single AW 18650, retina searing fun for sure Wink

Nice.  Kites, knives, and lights in no particular order.  Actually, I prefer camping where I can fly so that I can enjoy all three.

Cos 10 fingers and 2 eye's suggests redundancy....   Roll Eyes

Eric, I lol as, I too, found this new language intriguing... and I was just wondering if my m@glite was repairable... 10 18650's later...

Jim, yep it's a dark place for sure, but think I can show you the light... XL-M now that's how I'd start, and for those long dark beaches a SST-90

Obi....sound like a great way to pass the time

Lumens..... mmmm

SST-90 for $465.00 selling over at that other place?  should be able to cook a pizza..

Isn't the SST-90 just the emitter?   I expect the $465.00 would actually include a decent light.  An Olight SR90 with the James Bond case maybe?

Not as many lumens, but I still lust after the Jetbeam RRT3 Raptor... must be the cool name and the wonky handle.   Would never been able to justify it.

Currently, EDCing (lights, anyway).
  • LED Lenser L7
  • Fenix LD20
  • Fenix LD10
  • Olight TC10/TC15 Ti Transformer
  • 4Sevens CR2 Ti
  • 4Sevens Preon 1/2 Ti clickie (satinized because I was bored, but I love the finish now)
  • 3 Maxpedition Volta Cases full of batteries   Huh Cheesy

The list of sharps is equally eclectic/OCD.  Roll Eyes

If money is not an option, I highly recommend the Streamlight Strion C4 LED. It's rechargeable, VERY bright, and very compact for a rechargeable. The regular "non LED" Strion sucks, however--just FYI.

Not sure about sunscreen, but most over 400-500 lumens have fairly heft heatsinks and very clear warnings about keeping your mitts off said heat sinks.  It's one of those mistakes you make once and then have physical reminders not to do it again.

Could probably remove a lot of the concern by using something like the cage design on the Gatlight (titanium porn)... Icon lights use a cage design (not as sexy) at a much lighter price point.

Oh no.... caught myself using the term sexy when talking about flashlights.... it's all downhill from there.

The Wicked Laser torch can cook an egg:

Or light a cigarette:

Does put a while new spin on "deer caught in the headlights."

Flashaholics, they're everywhere!!!!!!  Wink

Ah the 'Torch', yep that thing was what got me a little curious, little did I know how much of a Lewis Carroll burrow that Q would be...

But the LED's are the thing that's most intriguing to me...

Heat up wire till glow is visible  Lips sealed or Gallium nitride crystal tech with phosphors  Grin(that's my sexy, right there)

Beam me up Scotty!

Sam, you are all over it!   Shocked some very nice 'tools' there  Cool, I'm yet to go Ti, I fear that one will not be enough...

But...If I had to.... Wink A 3 mode (L-M-H) high CRI SST-50 through a LOP floody wrapped it Ti holding 2rcr123 is my dream setup ATM, I could really use that a lot!

Jim rest assured, between kites and torches(an AUS thing) I get my fair share of odd looks, but by far the torch 'thing' is the hardest to explain... you are on far safer ground with a mere kite fetish  Grin

John, lol yep $400 is 'about right' for a good flashlight   Huh Now that's a funny discussion to have with 'normal folk' Wink

John, I'm no where near a serious flashlight person and I fear I have over $100 just tied up in batteries Smiley
