One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

On a lighter (non-kite related) note:

If you'd care to play, just list recent songs you almost never skip when they come up on the radio or your MP3 player.

1 Killers: The World We Live In
2 Brandon Flowers: Crossfire
3 Brandon Flowers: Only The Young
4 New Radicals: You Get What You Give
5 The Cult: She Sells Sanctuary
6 Christina Aguilera: Ain't No Other Man
7 Kylie Minogue: Giving You Up
8 Candy Dulfer: Cookie
9 Dirty Vegas: A Million Ways
10 Grand Avenue: She

In no particular order and off the top of my head....

  • Jim Weider and the Honky Tonk Gurus - Bigfoot
  • Kate Klim - Skin My Knees
  • Groove Armada featuring Richie Havens - Hands of Time
  • Agent Provocateur - Red Tape
  • Metisse - Boom Boom Ba
  • The Tragically Hip - Poets
  • White Light Riot - Out of Sight
  • Kelly Willis - That'll Be Me
  • Jimmy LaFave - Desperate Men Do Desperate Things
  • Chick Corea - Golden Dawn (Originally found 20 years ago untitled and hunted to the ground recently in quite possibly one of the most obscure searchs I ever had to do with the smallest amount of info available.  Insomnia remains a terrible thing to waste.)

Sam

I'm more of an album person. Amazon has 1,000 albums for $5 each this month. I've got my eye on a few:
Decemberists: Hazards of Love
Fistful of Mercy
Monsters of Folk
Old 97's
Gomez
Jem (Finally Woken is a good album)
Mavis Staples (she collaborated with Jeff Tweedy from Wilco)
One Eskimo
Weezer
and maybe the Steve Hackett album because I appreciated him when he was with Genesis.

Only 10??

It's supposed to be practice for when you are shipped off to that hypothetical desert island.  Remember you will be limited to only 5 books at that time. The low numbers for these polls always strike me as kind of arbitrary and something.... most people are strapping MP3 players that store hundred, if not thousands of songs, so....  Sad  Undecided

Tend to be more of the kitchen sink school, although I studiously try to resolve to travel lighter on a fairly frequent basis.  If it doesn't actually require more Aleve, I'll try to schlep it along.  50 lbs of kites and gear in Carry-On.... I'm there (although that means I will be looking for elevators rather than escalators).

Think there is a post on PKF where I mentioned having to wear armor on the train, because I couldn't fit it into carry-on on the return trip.  That always gets you interesting looks when you start shedding layers once underway.  Roll Eyes
