One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

I use Autocad, it's the top to project a kite (and much more), I'm developing my own project using that. I had to study a manual to proper use the commands, but be sure it worth. After drawing I put files on an USB key, went to a print shop and printed in 1:1 scale including templates for single parts.
BTW, I'm just going to build that, it's my very first project. After testing it, if it will fly, and will fly fine too, I'll show you. I'm looking forward to that! Smiley

If you can't get access to autocad, you can try draftsight... it's free and decent for basic drafting. Getting it to print 1:1 can be a bit of a pain though, I managed to get it to work once but haven't gotten it to work again. Autocad does plotting much better, so I use autocad when I can. It just doesn't run on my macbook.

Not tried it since we've cleared out our Macs but Autodesk released a version for Mac last year

I've been using AutoCAD for Mac since it's release.  If you know AutoCAD at all you will slide right into your regular work flow.  I too use it for kite design, but thus far have only used it to come up with my own sail patterns... have yet to tackle my own original designs from scratch.

YOur macbook have the intel graphics chip Will?  IF so your kind of screwed on what you can run because that graphics chip is only good for basic stuff unfortunately.  Its not so much that that particular graphics chip isn't supported but that it can't be supported because it's so limited on what the chip itself can do.

You can try it.  THe reason for using drafting programs is to get the precise measurements and conversions that illustrator and other graphic design programs don't have.  For making sail patterns illustrator would work well but ploting the measurements and accuracy of curves I'm sure it would fall short.
