One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

Awarded Best Kite Festival of 2010 by KTAI. The SPI Kite Festival is held on a large tidal flat on the north side of the island. Sponsored by B&S Kites, the event draws a huge collection of spectators and tailgaters. Participants from all over North America fill the sky with color, motion and excitement.

Notice that large convention center in the background? Would make for a real cool (or warm!) site for a KTAI tradeshow.

Cheers!

South Padre Island Kite Festival 2011

Nice, thanks for posting that.

I've never been to the festival - but I've have a couple of short vacations at South Padre and its a great kiting destination (although often very windy for dual lines).

I live about 1,000 miles from South Padre Island.  My parents moved there while I was at College.  After getting hooked on kites I scheduled an annual visit to the folks during the SPI kitefest.

SPI is where I was introduced to Sport Kites.
Bought my first dual line kite there.
Bought my first quad kite there.
Won my first competition at the SPI fest.
Met Mark Reed and got some great flying tips at another SPI fest.

Great place to visit and fly kites.  Would make a terrific place to hold a KTAI convention.

I was just down in Port Aransas not that far away.  Mustang Island is a great spot for flying since it's miles of white sand beaches and sometimes not that many people there.

Last time I was there I was just flying a 2.4 meter dual line foil and it worked well.

That video was great - I'd love to be there during one of the competitions just to see it.
