Does anyone have the specs for building a spine for an SL7? I know it's made of Hot Shot and Stacker spars, but does anyone have the actual measurements?

Thanks for the info, but that file is the manual. I have that - I need the measurements of the spine parts themselves. Does anyone out there have an SL7 they'd be willing to pull out of the bag and measure? I need to know the parts of the spine.

Failing that, does anyone know how to reach Andy Preston?

No contact info for him, but Andy Preston designs powerkites for EOLO/Radsails (www.radsails.com) now.

Although he eventually sold them, Paul Fouts owned 4 SL7s at one point.  He might still have notes and information on the spar specs for them.  His userid on GWTW is pfouts, but the last time he was on was at the beginning of December.  You could try shooting him a note to the email in his profile.

I have a SL7, and can measure parts tonight when I get home. Let me know exactly what you need measured.

Thanks, Dromel!

If yours is like mine, the spine is a composite of some other sticks glued together - I need to know the overall length, and if you could tell me the length of the sections that would be a big help. If your sticks have markings on them, that would help as well.

Just took the SL7 out of its bag. Taking the spine out is not a trivial job, it seems, so I didn't risk it (sorry!). I did measure the length of the spine as best as I could while it was in position, though: from nose to T-piece is 65.5cm, from T-piece to tail is 41.5cm.

Hope that helps (a wee bit)

no promises, but i know there are a couple SL7's in vegas. i'll ask around at the park on friday. one of the people who may have one is kent from a wind of change. if you're looking to know sooner (than a week or two) you can give him a call or shoot him an email. you can find his contact into through his ad over there. ---->

i spoke to kent. he does have one. will see him friday. we'll go from there.

apparently the sl7 spine is sort of like ours, a bit buried under precious material. will see what we can do.

steve, i haven't been able to get my hands on an sl7 yet, so if you're still willing, maybe you could take measurements for this fellow so we don't keep him waiting indefinitely.

linus, do you have the tail piece? as i hear it, there's a custom fabricated piece which doesn't seem in ready supply.
