What type of anchors should be used?

Welcome to the GWTW Forum.

One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

I had the change to be pretty up and close to some big show kites on the W/E at the Rosebud Kite festival down here, big up's to Kaos (Kevin) for the opportunity  to help out, lets just say that they require constant attention and you must be very light on your feet when the wind decides not to cooperate, 'exciting' is the word you use the next day...   

I would say that working with experienced big kite people first would be a mandatory requirement if you were serious about getting into them, there is much that goes on that only eye's and ears would pick up, a bit like Freestyle, what you read is just half the picture.

Speaking of what type of anchor should be used. (picture of the kite, not in Hawaii) Back in 97', Peter brought his newest creation at the time to Hawaii, Megabyte. This thing is huge, took 12 a whlie to zip all the panels together. We used a Peterbuilt dumper, parked side ways to the kite.

I forgot how he attached the line to the kite, but it held, and good. When the wind picked up to what Peter though was still safe to fly, it gragged the truck, side ways, about 5ft. We freaked!  Peter finally pulled the rip cord to deflate the kite in case of emergencies, just like this. That was an experience I'll never forget.
