Should KTAI Be Open To The Public?

One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

I'd prefer to see the reaction from a fellow enthusiast about upcoming products, rather than The Biz, as I suspect that I've got more in common with the former rather than the latter.

I might be mildly interested to know about Kut Price Kites latest entry level product that will go on to sell loads and make money for people but I'm far more interested in OneManBand's hand-crafted item. That's how it is.

Honestly, I'm with Zippy; I don't need to see the sausage being made, but I wouldn't mind hearing about it after the fact.

Take this how you will but when it comes to "I'd prefer to see the reaction from a fellow enthusiast about upcoming products, rather than The Biz" I think you slip more towards the latter what with the Revs, the Kymera, the website(s) with heavy industry advertising and so on.

I do appreciate the reports over the years though.

I really wish there was a way for KTAI and the AKA national convention to merge.  In the two professions I've been involved with, the annual conventions always have a market to walk through between seminars to see and test and check out new products, books, whatever.  You're able to talk to the people that manufacture the product or wrote the book, etc.  You may or may not be able to buy them there, but you at least can find what you might want to buy and get it ordered from your local kite shop.  It's a thought. 

The Fly market at the AKA convention is nice, but the first year I was expecting the fly market to have a lot more than it did.  It's hard to buy a kite without ever getting to try it.  We're lucky enough to have two kite shops that would let us try stuff here, but there's a lot of stuff that a beach weekender shop wouldn't carry that we would be looking for and wanting to see and try.
