Sand in my Rev fittings

I was at the beach flying (if that's what you want to call my 3rd outing with a quad) my new Rev B this past weekend.  With all the time on the ground sand got into the rod fittings and I had a heck of time taking it apart.  Aside from the obvious of not crashing my Rev into the sand so much, are there any suggestions for keeping the sand out or doing something to make getting it apart easier?

I got sand in other places too, but that is a personal thing I'll deal with myself.

go to the hardware store and buy some appropriately sized vinyl tubing to fit snugly over the rod and butting the end caps (permanent solution)

Personally?,... I seldom fly on beaches, so I just wrap the end cap and tube junction with a couple passes of electrical tape.  That seals the edge and it's easy to remove afterwards.

Ignore all the crap about "flying cleanly" and sand won't enter the junction!  How can you push the envelope if you don't occasionally impact mother earth while perfecting your techniques?

Thanks Paul.  Very little of my flying will be at the beach, so I think I'll go with your electrical tape idea.

if you're too lazy to even bother with the elctrical tape you can "tap the cap" against something hard and it will loosen up enough particles to wiggle off afterwards.  I'm not talking about a concrete block either, wildly swingin' it for impact!  I palm a pocket knife in one hand and gently tap the end-cap against this stiff surface.  I sit on the ground and take careful, short actions too.

Alternatively you can use a very thin screw-driver that fits into the end-cap hole and wiggle it (slightly!)  This will cause abrasion on the tubes which I'm not in favor of, but it will get off that stubborn one (my last resort rather than driving home with the darn thing stuck flapping out the back window)

Everybody carries a roll of electrical tape, just remember to use it beforehand and you'll never need any other solutions.

REVflyer - The entertainment value right now is for the people watching me try to fly the darn thing.  I'm sure they are getting a lot of chuckles at my expense. I'm getting better with each outing. I have a whole new respect for those of you that can fly quads well.

By the way, is there anyone near Birmingham, AL that fly quads?
Would like to meet up and get some schooling.
