One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.

I'm fortunate enough to be posting this from a hotel room in Doha, Qatar.  I'm one of a handful of kiters invited to fly at the Katara Cultural Village for the Katara International Kites Family Day event.  Today was our venue setup & inspection day, so it's a fairly small set of pictures.

that's awesome, hope to see some more pics as the event progresses. looking forward to hearing more about your experiences maybe when you return from the event. looks like a great location to fly, right next to all that sparkling blue water. also nice to see the strong appreciation for kites.

I was in the right place at the right time, and I was flexible (since the event had been rescheduled twice after I became involved) about my travel times!

It was a beautiful location for a festival.  We had a great time, and the turnout was astounding.  Hopefully we've helped to seed kite culture in Qatar, and I'd love to be invited back next year to see how it has grown.  We're hearing numbers ranging from 65,000 - 100,000 attendees total across both days of the festival.
