One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

I have to agree here. Was there too much peace & quiet ? I guess John felt that we all needed something to talk about, and for lack of anything else (?) this should be the topic ?
It was stuff like this that kept me from making any posts for the first couple of years that I belonged to this forum. Sad, I mean aren't we all here to talk about kites ? 
It's too late to delete it, unfortunately...

Website Discussion: Non-kite related topics. Religion and politics will NOT be tolerated. Topic: It's A Recession Out There

First thought was same as this Sport Kites topic: Why? Nobody wanted to hear this stuff in the old forum. Decided to participate as long as it stayed friendly in this new forum, which didn't last long. Members chastised for talking about econonmy and recession in a permitted non-kite related topic section's recession topic.

Are you surprised this has turned into a swap meet forum with mostly beginners and lurkers? You've driven off many willing participants. Hope you original ten forum members have fun talking to yourselves. That's where it's heading, since another swap meet forum is looking for eyeballs.

Hello to all. Having read the thread again, it is overall very civil and positive towards Dodd.

To Dodd:
There was no sandbagging here.

1) Self proclaimed: based on one's own assertion
     Yes, you did win many competitions and titles. But, I am unaware that you received the title of Master Instructor from any organization or governing body. I am open to any explanation of how you received the title of Master Instructor.

2) Arrogant: I did not use that word. No one used that word in the entire thread except you.

3) People have been either
a) overall positive about you and your kite designs or
b) worried about the direction of the thread.

Personally, I have been very positive about your recent kites, you and Skydog. I have reviewed (positively) your latest kites, posted photos of you and your kites liked well enough to be used by you and Skydog on your Facebook pages.

Dodd, it is obvious that you don't agree with every word in the thread, but if you go back and weigh what was said, you will see it is about 90% positive.

To the people worried about the evil thread that does no good to anyone:

1) Thank you for expressing concern for the direction of the Forum.
2) We are adults here and most have expressed themselves in this thread well.
3) There were no personal attacks. Some of the previous kites' QC was, but not aimed at Dodd.
4) The comments were very supportive and positive about Dodd and his involvement in kiting.
     (e.g. quote from RonG: If there were a Hall of Fame of kiting, Dodd would have earned a place there a long time ago.)
