One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

Give it a go if you can.

I wish I could go! I saw that they need volunteers and I'd love to help but there's so much to do around the house and it's 3 hours away. (And then there's the price of gas.)

This will be the first year I miss it.  I've been going since it was the Soundwinds Festival back in....1998 I think.  It's changed a lot since then, but has always been a very good time.  Moving to south Jersey has put me a good 5 hours away though so it's a no-go this year.

See you all in Wildwood...

We moved this past winter.  We're on Long Beach Island, about an hour north of Wildwood.  It happened pretty quick.  Made the decision and found a house while we were on vacation here at the end of September, sold our house in CT and were moved in here by December 1st.

3 blocks to the Atlantic ocean,  1 block to the bay.  Hands-down the best decision we ever made  Cool

I used to live in CT also - went to the SoundWinds back in the early 00's.  Actually spent a few summers living in Madison, so Hammonasset was my homefield for a while.  Great park.  Unfortunately, I'm going to be in NY this weekend attending an event at the New York Public Library.  Hope you guys have fun, if you're going.

Yeah.

My favorite kite events are the ones where you can camp hard by the fields.

It doesn't get much better in that regard than Hammonassett.

I'll be heading up on Friday for the weekend.

It's a shame your not going to make it Ron.

Five Hours of driving?

That's nothing for you. Shocked

Maybe 4.5 hours with no traffic.  But on the bright side, Wildwood is barely an hour away now, so it all evens out.  And it turns out the beach at the end of my street is not so bad for flying kites either  Cool

Guessing we won't see you at Wildwood?  Sad

Probably not, but you never know.

Sometimes I get it into my head to run down last minute.

Looking forward to any LBI festivals you might decide to stage in the future. Wink
