Does anybody know anything about this dual line creation? I won this kite at a raffle quite some time back. I recently got it out and put it together. My plans were to fly at an up coming festival to see if everything was ok and then give it away. Let's keep it simple: There is a spar at the top and one at the bottom. The one at the top had metal eye-lets on each end. The package had been opened and there was NO bridle.

Should there have been some kind of a bridle?

Now we're getting somewhere. I'll attach the pigtails and give it a try. It will either fly GOOD or it probably won't fly at all. thanks, Rob.

I don't think it was ever made to fly well (tsk, standards today Wink ), just fly attractively. IIRC Scholtz himself was quite vocally anti- these upstart dualline kites when they sprang up with their "moving about in the sky" nonsense and aimed to make better looking kites primarily.

Bonus points if you can Axel it, naturally  Grin

Curious to hear how this flies, given the 'unusualness' of the design and the absence of any bridle ...

Your lines should be no longer than 60-70 ft. and the wind window for any control is quite narrow.  If you go outside of 20 degrees either side of center it will just keep going to the outside, unless you are a gazelle and can run backwards fast enough Roll Eyes  Also it takes a pretty fair amount of wind to fly at all........If I remember correctly it was around 12 or so for some slow controlled turns. (if that's what you want to call them)

Have fun

I had one.  I put a fishing swivel on the nose, and ran a 4ft line to the top of a banner pole.  It would fly all day, with lots of spins and waving back and forth.

It was such a pain to put together/break down from/to storage.  I gave it away for a festival raffle.

I had one.  Great looking. Flew dual line like junk. It's best on a pole.

I didn't get to test mine out at the Morro Bay Kite Ffestival. I don't think I should give it away if it doesn't fly worth a hoot. Right now mine is hanging in my garage because it is so time consuming to assemble and disassemble. So much for my raffle ticket winner sounds more like a loser....thanks, everbody.
