Welcome to the GWTW Forum.
Guests (non-registered users) can view the forum but are unable to post.  If you don't have anything to say then why would you bother to register?
One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

What I'd like to know from those of you that use a meter for reference is:

What brand and model?
Measurement range?
Accuracy (compared to local weather station data)
Type of meter (vane, cup, hotwire)

1) Skywatch(tm) Explorer 2
2) 0 to 150 km/h (93mph)
3) Claimed "precision" plus or minus 3% but I haven't got round to comparing this with another source (annoyingly I was once using it at an airfield but did not have my scanner to listen to the reported winds).
4) Impeller

It needs to be pointed directly into wind and does not show well sudden large changes in windspeed ,due to a low update rate (twice a second) and possibly also, the time needed to speed-up or slow-down the impeller.

It is interesting to be able to put numbers to what you are experiencing but,as has already been said here,it can be of little if any practical use in most circumstances.
