One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

Memory Stick Pro: 4GB

I believe that the same maximum exists for the CF form factor.

plugged in the memory stick and cf card to format them, then plugged in the microdrive, turned it on and , that's all she wrote. DNF

looks like that page is devoted to professional products but will call the # and see what happens

I have no familiarity with repair places other than Canon.  For repair of this camera I found United Camera and Precision Camera. same price, different come-on except that United Camera claims 'they fix it right or the repair is free' or something similar.

The F828 is repaired and returned. took a while but that was due to me shipping the camera and then finding the repair authorization leaning next to the monitor...way to go.....Still no explanation as to why the microdrive caused the camera to fail, I assume it draws more current that the on-board power supply can now handle.  A review of the camera (dpreview.com) shows that it is capable of using but I won't, not wanting to repeat this fiasco again any time soon.  As to memory size, according to a sales person at BestBuy, it doesn't matter with the Sony the way it does with other brands.. I have tried 2G, 4G and 8G memory sticks and everything works fine set for an 8M photo.  Still have some reading to do in the manual, and there is also a Firmware upgrade but I have no idea as to any net gain.  I like the camera and its features so I guess I'll go take a few kite photos.....
