Stand off & bridle settings

One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.

How come i can only fly my kites in low to mid range winds with the standoffs at strong wind position and the bridle set at light wind position... Cant be right surely.

Quantum,3D and the E2 are all set up that way.

If the wind is a little strong  Hmmm 10/15mph Strong wind Yeah

Stand off`s out and the bridle down,,, really strugle with control

If the wind is low  Hmmm   1/6 mph  Low wind Yeah

Stand off`s in and the bridle up,,, really strugle

Just for base settings (not all kites are the same)

Stand-offs out - higher winds - less lift

Stand-offs in - lower winds more lift.

Bridle down-less lift, more stability(stalls - side slides)

Bridle up-nose forward-lighter wind more drive and less stability

Bridle up is used for the lightest and the heaviest winds (less pull and fewer broken linesets than on the heavy side).
