If you're stalling/losing drive, concentrate on the second half of the combo turn. The return to a neutral position should be firm - thats the part that powers the kite up again after the turn.
Many people put lots of effort into the pushes in the first half but less into the pulls back to neutral in the second half resulting in stalls rather than turns.

FWIW Learning the square cuts and ladder down figures is good discipline for combating this, doing it well is just as hard as a trick
