One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

The significant other and I have been visiting friends and family in CA for the last couple of weeks. I finally got a couple of hours to slip away yesterday afternoon for some air time.

Amazing - there was near constant speed wind (8-10) and even more surprising: it blew from the SAME DIRECTION ( ) for more than 2 minutes. Real grass, too, with no cactus or thistles.

Sometimes I really miss California.

Which one? There's lots of shoreline parks. If you're talking the one near the Googleplex in Mountain View then yeah, that's pretty well as awesome as they come. Cept for all the goose poop on the lawn.
