One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.

So, I have a Nexus five stack, but 99% of the time, I only fly one. The one that I normally fly was "relieved of duty" last week as it was in bad shape. I dismantled it, stored it's parts, and used the bridle on the next kite in line.

Yesterday, I took that Nexus out in steady 15 mph winds. However, the kite could barely fly. I checked the bridle attachments -- fine. The bridle settings -- fine. In fact, there was nothing I could see that would make the kite fly so poorly. The kite was flying as if the winds were only a mild breeze. Also, whenever it did happen to catch a strong gust, it was very noisy. Think playing card in bicycle spokes -- it wasn't the normal sound.

So, I spent a few minutes transferring the bridle from that kite, to the third in line. Again, no luck, same symptoms.

Is it possible the bridle is damaged? Or is it something else?

Any help is much appreciated!

Agree with rx, the lack of drive sounds like the upper legs somehow got longer. As for the noise, does the Nexus have a leach line, is it snug?

Thanks. I'll check on the bridle. I don't think it's upside down, but hey, it could happen. As for a leach line, no, the Nexus doesn't have one. It's rather basic in that regard.  Wink

It sounds like the bridle is the problem, especially since it started happening on the original kite.

I checked the bridle on my stack and it measures 19" from the top spreader and  21.5" from the lower spreader (this line has the 2 knots ion it) both these measurements are to the tip of the fly line clip. I took the measurements from a assembled kite so the actual bridle length would be aprox. .5 to 1" longer.

Unless you are over looking something obvious it has to be the bridle.  For $9.00 it would be worth it to get a new one.  They are available from Prism or drop me an email and I'll get you one (no shipping if you get it from GWTW  Wink)
