Has Anyone Heard of Using 'Sally Hanson's Hard as Nails' to Repair Small Holes?

As most of you know, I am from the old school. 

Once upon a time, it was commented that you could use Clear, Sally Hanson's Hard As Nails Varnish on very small holes or very small tears that could possibly lead to future fraying. The only issue with using it, is that the clear dries very shiny and you have to risk dulling the finish by touching it before it dries, for it to not "STAND OUT" too much. I am not sure If they have a "Satin" finish or not.  I have used it where I had to make a small repair, hand stitched and I coated the repair with the SH and it keeps the repair from future spreading and it worked great.   Have any others tried this or have comments about it?

I know of a similar method using superglue.
Works fine for small holes and done right its invisible.

The problem that I have seen with some super glue is that it turns black fabric, white.  Thanks for the tip.

I think that depends on the type of superglue used and the ventilation - I'm not quite sure of the chemical process, but if there's not adequate airflow over curing cyanoacrylics they do mist up, but otherwise they are generally clear.

I've only ever used zap-a-gap and have never had an issue with fabric changing color, it has always been clear.

There's a product called "Fray Check" that you can usually find at fabric stores. If you can't find it there, try a quilt shop. Use it sparingly and it won't show at all. If you use too much, it will darken the fabric and start to look/feel like plastic.
