Ripon monthly fly???

One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

Ripon monthly fun fly is coming this Sunday.  I can’t think of a better way to spend 9/11, then in a park flying a kite.  I plan on being there around noon.

Yep since the fest was more work than fly for a host of reasons and the requests were made, THe fun fly is on for next weekend.  I'll be there around 9 to catch some no wind practice.

That's too bad, but it's sorta the nature of the Valley. It's cool that you guys can get as much wind as you do. I'm going to try for next month. Heat should be down a notch or two by then.

I laughed because when we left Sacramento winds were ~15mph gusting to 20, then we get to Ripon and it was ~1mph gusting to 3.  Heh, well not that bad but it was ironic.  Usually Ripon has much smoother/stable/higher winds.

I was raised and spent much of my adulthood in Fresno. As far as I'm concerned, one Valley town is much like the next.... except on days when it's not. ;-)

So, do people call it "Rippin" or "Rip on"? My dad sold ag chemicals and at the end of his workday, he'd come home and tell us of his adventures. Once in awhile he'd come home and say that he'd had to go to Rippin. I've never been there, but have always meant to go. Now I've got a reason, so it's all good.
