Steady flier to stake?

One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.

Just looking for some recommendations on a SLK that I can stake to the ground while I fly another kite. Something that does not move around too much and that stays up well in very light winds. Thanks.

I like Deltas. Wind range 1-5 mph.

I've got a bunch of Delta's, but they all need a pretty decent wind to fly. Once they're up they're solid as a rock, though. I love them. Have you checked out the Wala? It too needs some wind, but will generally fly when nothing else will unless you want to take up the indoor-style maneuvers.

Focus Designs Skate and Manta
Look into Dan Leigh designed deltas....a catalog company produces some of them and Gomberg Kites produces them as well (Gomberg kites can be ordered through Chico Kites)

I would suggest breaking out the sewing machine and making a Dunton Taylor

For a stable flyer, the lightest wind kite I have is a 9' x 3' Genki.

It was and UL but 5 years ago I turned into a SUL. Switched to skyshark tubes and carbon rods. Also went down to a 50lb bridle to cut down all weight. .

It will fly in very low winds of 1-2 mph but requires a long launch of around 100'.

Added Gomberg's small 24' transition tails. Looks greats and can be added in winds above 4mph. I call the Genki my "Date Kite" because it the one I fly when my wife want to go out to a park as she only goes when the wind is low.

I have build both a Person Roller and Dunton Taylor and own several Roks. While these are good UL kites, they do not fly in lowest winds like the Genki. The Dunton Taylor has a HUGH wind range and worth building. All the above would be a great addition to you kite bag.

or if a geopointer from skyburner  is too big and too much cash check out the midi-pointer from ceewan that windsweptkites (link on right) has too.. ..but it is not the delta shape that you like.. ...
